Foraging teaches you to understand the life-giving potential of wild nature. Foraging will help you learn how to stop fighting nature and to allow edible, ecosystem generating plants back into your community. In this age of human-induced mass extinction, it will teach you, how to save the world. ~ Liz Morgan

The goal of life is to make your heartbeat match the beat of the universe, to match your nature with Nature. ~ Joseph Campbell

What once were novel concepts, are now mainstream. What once felt like stepping to the fringes of society, now feels like the beating heart of it. Organic farming and supporting organics continues to gain momentum. School and community gardens are suddenly deeply woven into the fabric of American normalcy. Cities proudly are bike friendlier and friendlier. People everywhere, conservative and liberal, across the country, know that the system can’t go on like this. The trust in the global corporate system is gone and people are beginning to prepare. People are relearning survival skills, and they are realizing that their survival is totally dependant on a thriving system of wild nature around them. ~ Liz Morgan

I am most concerned, in the world today, about biodiversity collapse. Climate Change gets the press, but it is important, largely because of its contribution to biodiversity collapse - along with poisonous agriculture, sprawl, over-consumption of water, destruction of the oceans and deforestation. Our entire society and economy is organized around poisoning and eliminating biodiversity. Climate Change aggravates that by shifting bioregion locations.
Sustainability, given all of this, is first and foremost, about rejuvenating biodiversity, about creating the conditions to let life flourish.

It's time to change our landscapes, to rejuvenate life and diversity
on our own little plots of land, and in our own homes,
so that as a global people, we can begin to understand
our job of tending this earth. ~ Liz Morgan
- - -
A thing is right when it tends to preserve the integrity, stability and beauty of the biotic community. It is wrong when it tends otherwise. ~ Aldo Leopold, A Sand County Almanac

the entire money machine

"business success" is not an excuse

A proper community in this day and age of peak oil, peak soil, the obesity malnutrition corporate food system epidemic, ecosystem collapse, global climate change, and almost total corporate control of our government - a proper community under these conditions, will at least recognize a responsibility to create a community that at the very least attempts to tackle these issues in some real and meaningful way. ~ Liz Morgan
